Colours to beat the heat!

Living in a tropical country like ours, the summer heat is nothing new to us. The summer is already here; and ice water, air-conditioned rooms and ice creams are only a few elements that make summer enjoyable for most of us. The warmer temperatures and longer days seem to put a sign of discomfort on everyone’s face, which is pretty much something that everyone has it in this season. This heat influenced discomfort has a cure that could heal the situation. The solution to heal comes in handy and also with style. The choice of colour to match the season is all that takes to save you out of the restless sweat and the beat the heat on the whole.

Neutral colours:

Neutral colours can relieve you well from the atmospheric heat as they do not absorb heat. The best part of these colours is that these are neutral and absolutely subtle. Adding to the relief from heat, neutral colours can be matched in style with nearly any shade and colour. You can couple a neutral colour like the flesh or the skin colour and earthy tan with almost any shade for elegant look this summer. Neutral colours hold real good for your business attire too.

Softly tinted shades:

Not everyone will know what a softly tinted shade will look like, for those people just take your mobile phone, open a picture of yours in a dark colour dress with any photo editing app. and then look for the ‘tint’ option in the colour editing section. Now you’ll know what a tinted shade looks like. These softly tinted shades will provide you with a gentle, subtle look and more importantly keeps you cool. Similar to the neutrals, these shades combine well with most other shades especially with neutral and dark pastels.

The Mid-tone pastels:

In contrast with a traditional real light colours, mid-tones are a bit deep and a bit likely bright. But, not so bright or deep to absorb all the atmospheric heat into the outfit. These mid-tones while paired with white gets you a crisp look, meanwhile with taupe-based neutrals gets you a softer and more comfortable feel along with a graceful look.

Colours gone wild:

Colours, colours and more colours, this is what we have been into for this summer. Get the style right in the summer; it’s all about feeling cool by wearing distinctive hues. Expand the colour options and choices to wild colours like lavender, lilac, mint green, ivory, coral pink and light blue. You sure will feel cool on these colours but it might not suit everyone’s style, be wise with the pick on this summer.

Keep it light or just white:

Is selection of colours confusing you with the fashion shade jargons? Well, there is always a simple colour solution for the summer. Yup, you are right, keep the shade light or just go with white. White has been the most opted colour for summer throughout history and till date. You always have the choice of keeping things simple.

To start with the fundamentals apply olive, mustard or coconut oil on your skin and hair, and make sure that this doesn’t mean get soaked with oil. This will prevent colour from seeping through and make it a lot easier to get rid of it later as well. Now pick up a light coloured dress, preferably white and make sure is a perfect fit shirt or t-shirt and not so tight or not so loose. If you don’t have a white one, you can choose wear light shades of green, yellow, blue and pink. You should choose for light colours as the celebration is about colours and they should be visible, in dark coloured outfits colours are not visible enough to prove your celebration.

It’s always better to wear a full-sleeve t-shirt or shirt so have your skin safe from the chemicals in the colour powders that could affect it. The selection of dress can be old, but not worn out, since a worn out dress can put you in awkward situations when you are having fun running, playing and splashing colours. Jawaharlal Nehru and his Bandhgala jacket

The first thought of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is a man of extreme simplicity and innate style. With his eloquent speech and sartorial elegance he was indeed a shining star in his era. Today is a day to remember him for his great works and also for his stylish outlook too.  Well renowned for his Bandhgala jacket and the Nehru topi, he did have a modish aura around him.

However, the strangest part of the story is that Pandit Nehru himself did not wear this jacket named after him. The jacket was designed after the South Asian achkan or sherwani, worn by the first Prime Minister of Independent India.

The Nehru jacket is a hip length coat with a mandarin collar. This varies from the one wore by Panditji in its design – his jacket reached was a knee length one, while the Nehru jacket reaches up to the hips.

The Nehru Jacket – Bandh Gale ka coat (Hindi for close necked jacket), is believed to have been designed in the 1940s and has become a part of the formal wear in the subcontinent. The jacket attained its popularity when classic bands such as the Beatles and Monkees wore these. This jacket also started featuring in various James Bond movies, as the villan’s attire.

However, we like to remember him not only as a senior member in our freedom struggle and post independent development, but as a star who carried the classiness of new culture. From then to now, the Nehru jacket has come a long way. Today we see a lot of movie stars sporting the Nehru jacket. Stars like Saif Ali Khan, Fawad Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ayushman Khurana are a few among the many who have taken the style to a whole new level.

We would like to end with one of his statement from his famous “Tryst with Destiny” – “It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.”
